Marie-Louise von Franz, Jungian psychotherapist, is quoted on the archetype of the Great Mother, regression, and rebirth motifs. The ego struggles to maintain consciousness like the hero battling a monster. Personal events mirror these mythic images.

Ancient patterns, called archetypes by Plato, can be recognized and engaged in conversation in the artist’s world. Native indigenous cultures might use our word “medicine” to describe this council, since God’s medicine comes from many different sources, yet leads to a lighting up of the personality, an expansion of consciousness.
